Car Star Turkington Swaps Tarmac For Sand At Weston
2008 British Touring Car Independents champion Colin Turkington is swapping tarmac for sand this weekend, as he's decided to take part in this year's Weston beach race on the 11th and 12th of October.
The 26-year-old Ulsterman, who finished fourth overall in the BTCC and won his second consecutive Independents title just a few weeks ago, is trying his hand at quad racing in the super-tough 3-hour beach competition.
Turkington is looking forward to taking to the sand in one of the most demanding off-road races in the world where amateurs can compete against some of the industry's very finest. The Team RAC driver is hoping that his skills on asphalt in the ultra-competitive British Touring Car race series will be transferred onto the purpose built dunes that are currently being constructed on Weston-super-Mare's seafront by event organiser, RHL Activities.
This year the Weston Beach Race festival includes a host of exciting activities off-track including shows from the Over The Top stunt crew, a 'Beach For Life' Charity fun run in aid of Cancer Research, the chance to win a quad and many exciting trade stands for motorcycle enthusiasts and none bike fans alike.
To see Turkington in action, as well as some of the best off-road bikers on the planet battle it out on the sand alongside 1000's of amateur racers, head down to Weston-super-Mare this weekend. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit: www.wbruk.com
