Tom Church Takes On Weston Beach Race

World Motocross Championship Grand Prix contender and local-man Tom Church has confirmed that he'll be taking on the challenge of riding in the Weston Beach Race this year, which is due to be held on the 11th and 12th of October.

The Molson Kawasaki rider, who is currently competing in both the World and British MX1 classes aboard his KX450F, is excited at the prospect of competing in the annual beach race.

Tom, who has ridden around the demanding dune course on two previous occasions, will be gunning for glory at Weston-super-Mare as his racing season draws to a close. The 26-year-old currently lies 19th in the World standings and is confident that with a good start, he will be able to fight for top positions around the Weston-super-Mare course.

Tom said: "The Weston Beach Race is a lot of fun because it demands a lot from the rider and the machine. Gareth (Hockey) puts on a great event and it's really built up a lot of momentum over the last few years. I'll be going there for nothing less than a win and a good start will be absolutely vital, but anything can happen in the three hours I'll be out there. It's even more special because it's very local to me and the racing season is over, so I can relax and really enjoy myself. It's going to be a lot of fun and I really can't wait."

The Kawasaki pilot is building a special bike for the race using a combination of parts from an enduro machine to suit the three-hour grueling race conditions, as well as components from his World Championship KX450F. He is looking forward to competing against a huge variety in abilities, and is sure that this unique race will be even more special as it's close to his hometown, Bath.
