WESTON ANNOUNCEMENT: SPECTATORS
RHL Activities Limited regret to announce that there will be no refund for spectators at this year's Weston Beach Race, at which one of the races was red-flagged after a major crash.
Following the initial red flag the race was scheduled to restart once the medical services had dealt with riders injured in the crash. However, it became apparent after a 90-minute delay that the emergency services would be unable to regroup onsite in time for the race to be restarted before nightfall. As a result, the race organisers were unable to restart the solo race.
Initially the race was rescheduled for the following weekend but after two days of meetings with North Somerset Council and the emergency services, while RHL Activities and their contractors were able to go ahead with a rerun of the solo race on Sunday 18th October, it was concluded that the full complement of local medical and emergency services could not be put in place in the time available.
For this reason, which was outside of the event organiser's control, the Weston Beach Race will not be re-run in 2009.
More information on the future of the Weston Beach Race will be posted on the official event site at www.wbruk.com in the coming weeks.
An announcement related to entry fees for riders taking part in the main solo event at this year's Weston Beach Race will be made by RHL Activities Limited shortly.
