HM PLANT PROVIDE TRACK BUILD MUSCLE

For the second year running HM Plant will be supplying all the necessary heavy plant required to transform the normally tranquil Weston-super-Mare beach into the infamous Weston dunes course, over which 1000 riders will do battle on Sunday 11th October.

This transformation takes a full seven days to complete, and requires nearly 10,000 metric tonnes of sand to be transported around the event site before track designer, Justin Barclay, can start grooming the track to produce the huge obstacles on which so many people struggle come race day. It's a mammoth task, and the heavy plant provided by HM Plant plays a critical part.

HM Plant has had involvement in all kinds of motorcycle racing previously, including the RHL Activities organised British Motocross Grand Prix, which took place at Mallory Park in June.

Probably the company's most famous involvement in the field of two-wheeled motorsport was with the Ducati team who, with Neil Hodgson and James Toseland, lifted the World Superbike championship title on no fewer than two occasions. HM Plant also counts two British Superbike titles amongst their achievements, as the company are title sponsors of Honda's factory team.

But it is not just road racing that has brought success to the United Kingdom's official distributor of Hitachi construction machinery. HM Plant is also heavily involved in the world of motocross, at both British and World championship level, with the official factory Honda teams.

HM Plant has a network of depots that respond rapidly and appropriately to fulfil its aims of efficiently servicing all of its customers’ needs.  The Newcastle-based company also distributes Metalogenia bucket teeth to the construction industry and celebrates strong partnerships with Isuzu and Honda Racing in the UK.

"HM Plant is proud to once again be involved with the Weston Beach Race," declared the Chairman of HM Plant Limited, John Jones. "We are the number one supplier of excavators in the United Kingdom, so it's only fitting that it should be our equipment that is used to build the track for the biggest off-road event on the British calendar. We pride ourselves in being associated with the very best through our sponsorship deals, and we saw last year that, when it comes to off-road events, the Weston Beach Race is definitely one of the best. In our marketing strategy we are always looking for unusual events to be involved with, and I am excited about our continuing partnership with RHL Activities for this very special race."

"We built up a strong partnership with HM Plant following their involvement in last year's Beach Race and this year's Motocross Grand Prix of Great Britain," commented Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities Limited. "HM Plant has been widely associated with some of the best two-wheeled motorsport teams and riders in the world, and their enthusiasm for the Weston Beach Race easily matches our own. Obviously we rely on the use of heavy machinery for the construction of the dunes that make up our demanding course, and HM Plant's equipment plays a vital role in allowing us to make the course as challenging as possible."
